Start/Finish 16th/36th (DNF (Engine Failure), completed 62/250 laps) 
Point Standing: 17th (128 points, 104 out of the playoffs)

Stage 1 Recap (Laps 1-75):

  • Mason Diaz started 16th, finished 36th.
  • The No. 86 welcomed developmental Driver Mason Diaz to the team. Mason was 13th fastest in the one and only practice during Friday’s one-day show.
  • Qualifying was rained out so the field was lined up by owner’s points.  Mason would start 16th and found himself running between 16th-19th the entire first run of the race.
  • Unfortunately around lap 55, Mason reported a vibration followed quickly by a power steering failure. About 5 laps later, the motor quit running and the No. 86 team would succumb to the motor failure. Ultimately finishing in the 36th position. Mason was 18th at the time of failure.
