Welcome to Brandonbilt Motorsports Team Spotlight. Today we feature our crew chief Doug Randolph. Doug has a long and storied career in racing and way too many moments to capture here so we will narrow it down some.
While Doug was going to college he became a big race fan of L. D. Ottinger in the old Busch Series. Asking if he could help in the garage, he started cleaning and sweeping. From there, he learned and worked his way up; eventually becoming crew chief for Dave Blaney. Years later, Dave’s son, Ryan Blaney would also come to harness Doug’s skills as a crew chief. Having been raised in Morristown, TN, Doug moved to North Wilkesboro in 1991 to be part of the crew for his first cup team with Sterling Martin. He’s worked for RCR, Richard Petty Racing, Bill Davis Racing, DEI and has been crew chief for Jimmy Spencer, Bobby Labonte, Paul Menard, Eric Amirolla, Tyler Reddick, Austin Cindric and others before joining our team for the second Iowa race.
In his spare time, Doug loves anything outdoors (he has a degree in Wildlife and Fisheries Biology from the University of Tennessee). Doug is married to Diana and has two kids, Nicholas 30 and Morgan 23. They call Mooresville, NC home now. Doug enjoys all sports that involve his beloved alma mater UT, especially the football team.
